paintballing

ok this is a sports related thing, i was just wondering if anyone does paintballing as a hobbie and i dont mean 'yeah i go every few months and im leet' i mean does anyone own any gear, im pretty interested in starting it as i've been a fair bit and i think im a bit leet, and i'd just start to do it regularly, and i know its fairly expensive unfortunately. but i live in london and was wondering if the paintballing places nearby (allied comand, campaign, delta force) allow the use of your own guns, and if they dont do any other places? is there any information on starting relatively competative paintball? thanks for any help you can give

Oh, you mean the one where they went paintballing stark na....

*ahem*

I've been a few times, but the place I went to (Allied Command) sucked because the martials didn't seem to care that 20 people were murdering me at point blank range for about 5 minutes.

I would like to get into paintballing, it is a fun sport, but it is just too expensive really.

Re: paintballing

leeroy, if you come to durham uni, there is a university paintballing team... (I think they are national university championes)
there are quite a few universities with teams. If you go to your local place and inquire about local teams, they can probably point you in the right direction.

ah the wonderful world of paintballing... i will give you some sound words of advice:

DON'T pick up smoke bombs once they are actually smoking... they melt flesh...
I like running into cabins screaming after a nice stealthy approach as people inside seem to get very scared and not shoot you straight away..surprise is a great tactic...
i buy paintballs off of the internet and take them in with me.. as long as the place lets you take them it is a lot cheaper

i guess i could put more stuff but i can't be bothered... me n my friends have our own paintball guns and play round a forest near my house in the middle of the night... the best way to paintball by far

I used to play quite a lot with friends to out local site where of my mates now works in the holidays when he's back from university. We got pretty good as a squad, were even asked if we would like to have a days training with the paintball sites own team (this was when they were South West Paintball League Champions) so we obviously had a bit of skill. unfortunately it never happened due to having no money and coming to university... maybe one day

Got my own mask as have most of my mates, looked at getting my own marker and playing more reguarly but decided against it when i my bank acount was pretty much empty, damned lack of money. As a group me and my friends have played in one local tournament where we came second, should have done better but were playing with an understrength team, but we did manage to get maximum score in two of the games out of the 7 we played. It was only the first 2 games of the day that let us down. O well

If you're looking to get equipment, the people at the sites are usually quite helpful as to giving advice of what to get (well they were in my experience, they even offered to get it for us at trade price).

but if you are looking for equip why not check out

remember - shoot them even if they surrender

hehe, i'm going painting tomorrow - in a wonderous place with a three-story, five parapetted (?), fort construction, retired military vehicles, and about a dozen fields in all, including some fantastic speedball.
but i digress
i haven't bought yet, but whenever i rent, a tippman 98's what i get - it really is nice. i believe that's also what one of my brother's has, and he enjois it immensly. if you're getting a mask too, go for the anti-fog models: they are much better in the long run for wear and visual quality.
even if just for fucking around, never buy a pistol, as they tend to be terrible in accuracy and reload time - a total waste of paint.
